"Arriving at the pitch, scores of thin, barefoot children, in ragged clothing with close-cropped hair would greet us and immediately begin to work – carrying bags, lining up the balls, pads and water jugs.

Always smiling, always patient..... "I’m hungry" they would say, smiling, as they handed you a ball or jogged out with water. We shared our food or bought them food at the clubhouse, but in the end what they really wanted was for us to watch them play rugby."
