Kampala RUGBY has over the years transformed from a sport enjoyed by a few socialites to one of the most fancied games. The thought of playing rugby on sand, saw fans flocking to Aero Beach in Entebbe for the Nile Beach Rugby on Sunday.

Some teams fielded professional players, but that did not stop them from losing. Adrift edged Travel Care in the final game and won an all-expenses-paid trip to Jinja and qualified for the next Nile Fun Rugby touch festival due July 7-8.

The winner's package is valued at over sh1m. Adrift also had the top scorer Deo, while MVP (ladies) was Lillian Mbonigaba of Toyota and MVP (men) was Paul Beggan of Travel Care.

The fun five-a-side rugby game is open to all, but two females must take part in each team. It was fun watching the females run, but some male players also loved chasing them.

For dancing well, NTV got a crate of Club beer. But Toyota/Yamaha not content with sponsors' beer, Club and Nile, made do with a crate of Bell Lager.

Nile Breweries alongside NTV, Sanyu FM, Rwenzori Beverages and Group4 Securicor sponsored the event, whose participants included dfcu, Nile Lions, Hangovers, Heartbreaker, Fans On, Entebbe Mongers, Eye Magazine, Toly's Sharks and Red Devils (Moringa Ogilvy).
